Storage world in Middleton continues to burn as fire fighters ctackle the blaze

Storage World in Middleton remains ablaze today, June 19, 2025, as fire crews face challenges in extinguishing the fire ignited by a lithium battery.
Crews have spent another day attempting to control the fire, which progressively worsened throughout the day. The roof of the storage facility has collapsed, releasing thick black and gray smoke into the air.
An anonymous bystander with a storage unit on the property informed Manchester Today, "A man received an order of over 20 electric bikes yesterday morning. While drilling a battery onto one of the bikes, he accidentally hit the battery. Instead of removing the bike that caught fire, he attempted to save the unaffected bikes by pulling them out."
Fire crews are expected to remain on the scene for another night as they work to bring the fire under control.
Drone footage of the building reveals that a section of the roof has collapsed, creating additional challenges for the fire service, which continues to use ladder engines to combat the fire from above.
